Texan Dreamers Plaque from James Patton

One of the great things about our CNC projects is that there are so many themes. On the other hand that makes it hard to know if you would ever have a need for particular ones.  As you will see from one of James Patton's latest project knowing that we had a particular theme available helped him out and the result is pretty great!

"An acquaintance of my wife asked if I’d carve a logo for her. You can see the drawing I had to work with."

James was given this image to work from.

"You can see the drawing I had to work with. Using pieces from the graduation day set, I think we got pretty close..."

We have to agree with James... it is pretty close... maybe even a bit better... ;)  Love that finish and the color really brings it all together. Nice work!

Thank you James for sharing this project with us!

Marinan Brewer's Graduation Plaque!

With the end of the school year soon approaching we thought it would be the perfect time to post this finished project hack from Marinan Brewer.

"Machine is Laguna Swift CNC ROUTER 4X8.  Software is V CARVE PRO comes with machine!"

"Needless to say - I used your Projects for all the items carved! Worked great"

Marinan used the Graduation Day No.1 and the Rose Tile No.1 project to hack together this layout.

What a great plaque for a wonderful achievement.  We're sure Emily loved it!

Hack of the Week No.92

"Dreams don't work unless you do."

With the school year 1/2 over you might need to spread a bit of old "school" motivation.

This "School Room" plaque was created using models from these projects:

The fonts we used to simulate the v-carving are called:

  • Gabriola, Garamond, Gabriola Italic, Javanese Text, Impact

Update - March 4th, 2016

We opened our email today to find this great finished version of this Hack of the Week from James Patton!

"Carved this one for the wife’s classroom. (she teaches avid, kind of like college prep classes), She loved it.
Carved in brown maple, Turned out to be about an 11” x 16” project. We liked the white of the maple, I decided to just put a few coats of semi gloss on it and not stain it at all. The lettering I think I did in Royal Blue..
Thanks for another great hack..."

What a nice job and we sure are glad she liked it!!

Note - This hack was assembled in Aspire V8 for presentation purposes.  It could have been done in VCarve Pro V8 or VCarve Desktop.

Why not hack together your own layout mixing and matching models from other projects or from your own library!  For some great inspiration check out our  hacks page!
