A new project just in time for Mother's Day

Just in time for Mother's Day we have the 3rd installment of the Mother's Garden series of CNC projects.

A project that contains an orchid model seemed to be a very obvious addition to the Mother's Garden series of projects.  A ribbon that can be easily v-carved with children's names, dates or an event seemed to fit right in, so we included it. Overlaying your layout on the long textured tile will make for a great piece of wall art to be shared with visitors, as a gift or just for yourself.

Mother's Day and Fun in the Sun!

John Mordus is back with two great projects to share with us.   With his first project he has created a layout that can be easily customized with a unique message for a very special person!

Mom's Garden

"Mother's day and springtime are coming up so I made a bunch of these up. Used your Mother's Garden No.1."

As you can see his layout was easily customized with different v-carving to make it a very special gift!

"Used a glued up 1" - 2' x 4' pine panel from big box store - can get 6 of these out of 1 piece. Minwax stain - 4 coats of oil based poly for inside - 4 coats of spar varnish is going outside"

His second project is a little work in progress that he has given us a sneak peek at.

"Experimenting a little for a Jimmy Buffet fan. Still needs some tweaking on the different layers."

"24 x 12" - 1" glued up pine panel"

He used models for the Under the Sea No.1, Fun in the Sun No.2 and the beer mug that came included in his Aspire software.  What a great looking hack just as it is!

Thank you, again, John for sharing these special projects with us!

Customer Focus - Jim Meadows

We are always inspired by the unique finishing techniques our customers use.  In this case Jim Meadows uses charcoal to add shadowing and to blacken his recessed lettering.

"Made this little plaque for a friend who has an embroidery shop in Rockport, Texas."

"After completion. Fun Stuff!!!!!"

This is a great hack using models from 5 different Design and Make CNC projects!

Before charcoal.

"(The shop is) on the beach, so the starfish, Rockport is home of the hummingbird festival, so that’s why the components.

Made from maple, finished with lacquer, and highlighted with charcoal. Not sure of the fonts, as they were traced from a bitmap."

What a great layout and the choice of components sure tells a lot about local culture.

The hummingbird and flower come from the Mother's Garden No.2 project, starfish from the Under the Sea No.1boot from the Western Saloon No.1, cowboy hat from the Western Saloon No.2 and finally the sign shape from the Pub Sign No.2 project!  WOW!!!!  That is a hack!

Thank you Jim for sharing this special project with us!
