Don and his milk cans.

If you have been keeping up with our Shop Notes posts and newsletters, Don Harding is a name you have read about befor.  Don not only is a Weekend CNC Warrior but is also a fan of our projects and a huge contributor to the growing number of customer submitted hacks and finished projects we have on the Design and Make site.

One of Don's most recent submissions are pictures of his growing collection of milk can carvings.  He made these using the Milk Can No.1 from the Farm Fresh No.1 CNC project.

For the finish he used "Matte Clear Rustoleum, Black is Krylon".   They took "2 hours on the Camaster Stinger. It is
6" x 11.25" x .75 thick."

"Roughed with .5 end mill, finish bit was a Burchett Quality Tool #3TB25015. The tip is a 1/16 ball Nose I think."

"The lettering was a 90 degree Magnate 706 v-Bit. I did a Profile cut before i did any cutting with the .500 Bit to make sure I had enough wood on the sides Of the Scrap Board."

"One more piece of firewood saved."

Firewood never looked this good Don!

Raw part before finishing.

Customized with dates.

Another custom can!

Thanks Don for sharing your milk cans with us!  Fantastic work as always.  Keep the chips flying over there in your shop!

Henry Landry is now "Weekend CNC Warrior" Approved!

Henry sent in this project hack he laid out using a couple of our projects and some models he had in his own library... a real hack!  He used models from our  Farm Fresh No.1, Grill Master No.1 and Pick-Up League Hockey CNC projects.

Henry's finished project is  hand painted and looking pretty sharp!

"Now a few coats of varnish and a felt backing"

With those finishing touches we are pretty sure the "Landry" family will love it!

Henry's layout in his CarveWright software using the PNG version of the projects.

Thank you Henry for sharing this project with us!

Farm Fresh No.1 - We've been roosting on this post.

Looks like we missed making an official Shop Notes post for this project.  Better late then never... unless your a rooster.

This mini-project was inspired by a submission from Carl Hind-Rutter (a Weekend CNC Warrior) and we could not resist!

This project contains models that are sure to inspire some pretty nice rustic looking signs pointing the way to some tasty fresh eggs, milk or a cozy bed & breakfast.  Maybe even a road sign welcoming guests to the family hobby farm or proudly displaying the name of a 3rd generation farming family.

Our Farm Fresh No.1 project contains the following 6 models:

  • Fresh Eggs No.1
  • Arrow No.1
  • Tin Rooster No.1
  • Rustic Sign No.1
  • Milk Bottle No.1
  • Milk Can No.1

All of these great models for just $25.00!

Catch it while you can!

Here are a couple of layout idea to get you started!

Not sure if this project is fresh enough for you?  Check out these "fresh" finished pieces by 2 of our Weekend CNC Warriors!

Thanks to Suzanne from Suzanne's Woodworking for this one!

Uncle Henry made this great clock just is case the rooster slept in!
